Applications in Planetary Gearboxes The input shaft is supported by a single row deep groove ball bearing. Due to their low frictional torque, these are suitable for high speeds. The planetary gears are supported by full complement single row and double row cylindrical roller bearings. The single row bearings in stages 1 and 2 are designed for high speeds at low load, while the double row bearings in stages 3 and 4 are designed for high loads at low speed. The rolling elements then run directly in the bore of the planetary gears. As a result, the bearings require very little space. The full complement design ensures high load carrying capacity. The output shaft is supported in a cylindrical roller bearing (axially free) and a spherical roller bearing (locating bearing). The cylindrical roller bearing has a roller set with increased capacity and is thus designed for extremely high radial load carrying capacity.
